Audrey joined Mela Artisans over 5 years ago and she has a background in management consulting from PricewaterhouseCoopers, and her entrepreneurial experience includes several years spent in business development, marketing and sales at an NSF-funded software start-up called Wireless Grids Corporation. She currently serves as a trustee for several non-profit organizations, sits on the board of a few for-profits, and holds a PhD in Technology Policy & Development Studies from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. She also holds degrees from The London School of Economics and Wellesley College. In 2003-4 she was a doctoral fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.



Hans has more than 25 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry. He is currently the chief operating officer for the Asia-Pacific region at Agility, a leader in freight forwarding and supply chain logistics. Prior to his role at Agility, Hans held chief executive officer positions with DHL Express and APL Logistics. Hans is a member of Young Presidents Organization and received a BA in Comparative Literature from Brown University.

Navroze Mehta is Founder & CEO of Mela Artisans Inc. ( He co-founded Mela with his daughter Sonali Mehta Rao. Mela Artisans blends traditional handcrafting techniques with contemporary design in home and fashion to promote social uplift in artisan communities. Navroze is also Founder and CEO of Impact Medical Strategies. Impact Medical Strategies is dedicated to promoting technologies that can solve major global medical unmet needs. Its goal is to make widely applicable devices and health care services sustainable, affordable and accessible to all. Two initial areas of focus are point of care diagnostic markers for Ovarian and Prostate cancer.

Navroze received an MBA from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sydenham College at the University of Bombay, India. Navroze has been a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) for 20 years, is past chair of the Americas Gateway Chapter, and served as Regional Chair of the Economic Development Network. He is also a past member of the Ashoka Support Network (, a leader in the field of social entrepreneurship and has invested in several social impact enterprises.




Prior to joining Mela Artisans as president, Sonali was vice president of Business Development at Missions Markets, an organization matching impact investors with social entrepreneurs, where she devoted her energies to business development and public relations. She has interned in the Corporate Social Responsibility department of Edelman, a global public relations firm, and has worked for a diverse group of social enterprises in India, Ghana and the U.S. These include Lumni USA, which offers educational holding to low-income college students; Intellecap Inc., a social-sector advisory firm based in Mumbai; and Microfinance and Economic Development Organization, a microfinance company in Accra, Ghana. Sonali also worked as a summer associate for Ashoka in Washington, DC and Mumbai. Sonali earned her BA in International Relations from New York University.
