Dear Mela friends,

I am pleased to connect with all of you again to let you know that 2013 has been an incredible year for Mela on many fronts. We are grateful to all of you for your support and encouragement through this process. Today we share with you the exciting news of a major rebrand of MyMela (now Mela Artisans or just Mela) and also the relaunch of our completely redesigned website. While continuing to stay true to our mission of supporting artisans and traditional crafts, we are now doing so with our own exclusive contemporary designs.

This spring we presented our first collection to several leading luxury retailers and I am pleased to let you know that our products will now be featured at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and many fine boutiques across the country.  I invite you to view these new collections yourself both at your local retailers and on our website. We encourage you to send us your feedback on our blog or via Facebook or Twitter. Because of your unwavering support, we  are continuing our innovative lending program to artisan entrepreneurs (now called Live&Loan) so please don’t forget to visit that section of our website as well.

This year Mela’s revenues have grown three fold over last year and, based on the orders we have received thus far, we expect to once again triple our revenues next year. Most importantly we are having a very tangible and measurable impact on the lives of hundreds of artisans in India. As we grow, we will continue to add to our collections, featuring additional artisan groups including some whose amazing artwork has never been seen in the US before. This is in keeping with our mission to truly globalize markets for skilled artisans thus creating a sustainable and long lasting impact on their lives and communities.

I would like to end as I started, by thanking every one of you for being a supporter of Mela. We hope you will continue to visit us often online as our collections will change frequently.
