Mela attends the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair
Mela Artisans’ team visited the 2013 Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair which took place from October 15-18 in New Delhi. Organized by the non-profit Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, this biannual event featured 2400 exhibitors of home décor, textiles, home furnishings, eco-friendly gifts, jewelry and fashion accessories. The export of handicrafts from India is a $3 billion plus industry and is projected to grow 20% this year alone!
Our team explored the fair’s offerings, looking for artisan groups that produce high quality work and unique designs to add to Mela Artisans’ exclusive collections.
Handcrafted textiles, home furnishings and fashion accessories were featured at the show.
Chief Creative Director Dipali Patwa and Founder Navroze Mehta talked to many vendors of high-quality handcrafted home and fashion accessories.
Product Development Manager Kamal Wadkar evaluated the vast array of textiles with a critical eye.
